Another Morning

The insistant ringing of my phone alerted me to the fact that it was morning. I turned to slam the damn thing shut only to realize it wasn't my alarm that had come on but my father was calling.

"hi daddy" I said in a very groggy, morning voice.
"B----- you sleep to much! What is your address? I have been calling you..." my father, always so vibrant, threw himself into a one man conversation immediately. I curled under the covers and let the warmth of hearing his voice envelope me and my cold room.

It was raining outside but all I could hear was daddy's love.

In case you are wondering why I sound so besotted, well it is because I am a daddy's girl. Since I was a little girl, my father was like my bestfriend. I could tell him anything. Of course as I grew up and got into a relationship, things I told my father reduced but I love him all the same.

How was I doing? How was Baby (he said babies name of course) What was I getting baby for his birthday? Did I get his email? Do I have his travel plans? How is the moving? How was my first day in school? I miss you, I am washing my car right now because I went to the village...Sold another car...Lonely...why don't you call? And so on and so forth

Barely giving me a chance to answer, but I wasn't irritated. That is daddy. He demands attention and at 6:30 in the morning only one other ,an can demand my attention without getting his head handed to him...baby.

He quickly said good-bye stating that his minutes were going. Asked me to call, blew me a kiss over the phone and was gone. A quick 15 minute conversation that turned this cold, rainy morning bright.

I turned over in bed, and noticed baby was up and moving about as he got ready for work...Well it is Thursday, what a wonderful way to start the day! I think I am going back to bed now! Don't have to be up till 12 noon anyway.
