I just got back from Camp Meeting. I am tired, my voice is gone and I look a fright but here is the week in a snapshot.
Monday: Got back from my cousin's wedding with no luggage. My luggage thanks to U.S. Airways was missing and I had all my cosmetics and bath products (not to mention my fav. Aeropostal clothes and Naija gele's) in the suitcase. Unfortunately for my bank account I had to go and buy new make-up and all other stuff. And for all those who love Mac like I do, that is not a cheap thing to do.
I barely got any rest because I was on the road at 12 am heading to the meeting point in CT. Got on a bus at 3:00 am on Tuesday and headed to N.Y where we picked up the N.Y campers and headed to NANA
Tuesday: NANA means Nigerian Adventist in North America. They have this annual revival/retreat thing that I was an officer for. I promised myself I wouldn't stress but after riding in a bus (with no restroom) for over 20 hours you get tired. WE arrived at the camp site Wednesday morning and that sucked!
Wednesday: 2 am we reach the campsite only to find out two things:
1. WE are living on a very hilly camp site which means a lot of trekking and
2. my cabin is the last after crossing three hills.
Thankfully my girl Adeola was there with a rental. NOt only did I transport my crap but I also transported the In-laws crap as well to the respective cabins.
Okay fast forward the day. We had meetings and conferences and it was very disorganized. I decided this year that I wouldn't take part in the planning and let chips fall where ever they would and they did. I didn't for once stress about the events or the planning. I met up with my good friends Adeola and Merzo and had a blast. Not to mention hanging out with baby and his brothers and my siblings and ti-squared.
Thursday and Friday went by in a blur of activities and I barely slept a wink at night. I must have gotten like five hours sleep from Wednesday to Friday. I hated waking up because this aunty in our cabin threatened to pour ice water down my back if I didn't wake up for devotion. I told her that if she did it, I wouldn't hesitate to fight her because "ice-water or no ice-water" I am not a child. Omo fashi that one jare.
Saturday: I got to walk around looking good in a nice nigerian outfit. Had too much fun at the church service. That night I got to perform my dance. I have pictures which are forth-coming. It was mad hot. We were the best. And then there was camp fire which we had a lot of fun at too.
Sunday: It was a sad farewell but I was tired and was ready to get home to my packing and getting ready to move to school again! Yes, you heard me right, move back to school. Don't say anything to me I am still mad about that situation! Sike! Okay really do you think I would move back on campus after all that happened. come on people, I am packing to move to our place. Anyway, the trip took forever and we got home at 8 am today. Internet didn't work all day and I have been packing and getting ready for my trip to Bmore tomorrow.
That's right! I am going to Bmore for the Naija fest to help my Suya shop family, dibs on the lemonade machine! or Slurpy machine! or anything that will keep me from eating that wonderful Suya
So I haven't bought my ticket and I am knee high in three weeks of laundry. And yet I am happy because I am going to see my family again! Yeah
I am out!
