"What can I ever do to repay the debt that I owe my new family and friends who embraced me and helped me in my hour of need...what debt I owe..." (Eulogy of a Single Vagabond)
Growing up with the kind of popular parents that I have, I must admit I have more "aunts" and "uncles" than most people. Even those who have no blood relations with me are considered family. Any time I walk into a community of Nigerians there is always at least four people who will say "are you not the child of so and so and so" and then comes the whole "Ah! I know your parents" bullshit that immediatly follows. Course they are Uncles and Aunts in name only.
And then comes the "friends". So called who are around when you can be of service to them. They call you when things are great for you or when things are great or bad for them. But do they call when things are shitty for you. "Oh Hell No"
Finally, there are those you have known all your life that just when you hit a point you think you know them and they know you, they prove to you that they don't know you, niether do they care to know you...
Why am I ranting and raving... Well these last few weeks I have been in a predicament and only my true friends have helped me with moral, emotional and real support. They gave me a place to stay, they gave me a good time (went dancing with my girl), they gave me food and shelter and they drove me around town. To these amazing ladies who have shown that true friendship is not measured in time or blood, I salute and eternally pledge absolute loyalty too.
As for the rest...I leave thier fate in the hands of God, afterall, I will not judge but I will say that the phony relationships end NOW!
